Platinum Soul Sound

Located at Talbot Road junction with Sutherland Place

jumped onto the scene in the early 80s

Platinum started out playing Soul and Lovers Rock music at all night 'blues' parties in West London. Their popularity was soon rewarded by members having successful careers as radio presenters, event promoters and artist managers. The sound leader DJ O’Bryan aka 'Darkman' also went on to have an award-winning recording career.

Platinum first appeared at Notting Hill Carnival in 1986 with various DJs playing funky music to London’s most hip and trendsetting ravers at the time. They joined the British Association of Sound Systems in 2001 and following a long stint on the BASS waiting list have now been appearing officially at the event since 2018.

In the early 2000s Darkman could be found DJing at the world-famous 'Ion Bar' in the heart of Ladbroke Grove. When it came to carnival, this was the hottest venues in town, and an event that you had to attend. Not much has changed ever since. Platinum Soul Sound at Carnival is really really hot.
