the original sweetboy sound

The Sir Lloyd Sound System was established back in 1979. The owner (Sir) Lloyd Robert's has passion for the underground music industry and also has gained a large number of high profile contacts, acquired through decades of being 'in the business'. This is clearly evident at Sir Lloyd's carnival showcases. In recent years modern legends like Shy FX have dropped in to run the decks, but at Carnival you can expect two days of predominantly R&B and reggae regardless of who shows up.

Sir Lloyd himself has been dj'ing since 1976. The sound system started out as being one of the more popular party favourites in South London with a reputation for being the ladies choice. This led to Lloyd putting his hands into music production. He started a label and released his first record in 1982. Having success with a number of underground reggae and soul hits, Sir Lloyd then added record distribution and club/venue promotions to his portfolio.

The sound system at Carnival has been presenting its eclectic mixture of DJ’s playing reggae, soul, house, DnB, hip hop and RnB since 1986. In recent years enhanced and well presented with collaborators like Soul Village and Shy FX label Digital Soundboy.

They say that 'old habits die hard', so if you want to put on a show that's never to be forgotten, Sir Lloyd to this day still remains the master of club promotions and live showcases.
